WW2 NORWAY
Unlike the others pairs in this project, Anne and Eva did not work together, or meet, they are grouped by both being from Norway and you'll totally want both, so hey, moulding them together saves you £2!
Anne Margrethe Strømsheim/Bang
Anne was the only woman at the defense of Hegra Fortress in Norway, one of the last places to hold out against the Nazis. Working as a medic, the Germans saw her over the walls running around saving the soldiers, and called her Joan of Arc. She's also known as the "Lotten fra Hegra" The Lotten are a sort of Women's Home Defence organisation which still exists today.
Like so many of the survivors we've researched, Anne dedicated the rest of her life (til 94 years old!) working to make life better for the less fortunate as well as being a voice of the realities of the frontline.
Eva Kløvstad
Code name Jakob. Eva served in the Norwegian Resistance, climbing to leader of District 25 Milorg, with 1200 people under her command. After the leader Christian Juell Sandberg was shot, she rebuilt the entire network in Hedmark. At one point, her fiancee Tor discovered that the "Jakob" he had been receiving orders from was indeed his love, which, well, more than miffed him. Eva proudly marched at the end of the war, in uniform, beret and pistol, though wasn't allowed to do so in a march in front of the royal family, cause it's not appropriate to have girls there. Of course, duh.
Painter John Morris has painted on very intricate argyle socks, based on a photo of herself and various other Milorg, but they are sculpted flat so you don't have to, if you fear it! They can be plain or perhaps... stripey? spotty?
The pack consists of two single piece miniatures, cast in high quality pewter. 28mm scale, supplied unpainted.
Sculpted by Alan Marsh. Shown painted by John Morris.
